AAC Mah Jongg Participants

Here at the Active Adult Center, we try to offer something for everyone. Our extensive programs list shows just how true that is! We offer a wide variety of programs that include Health Awareness presentations, themed luncheons, holiday parties, games, crafts, fitness classes, specialty clubs, and more!

Numerous outings ar planned throughout the year by the Active Adult Center. We take trips to farmers markets, Raystown Lake for a ride and lunch on the Proud Mary, and shopping and lunch at the Rusty Rail are just a few of our most popular!

ACAP (Adult Children of Aging Parents)ACAP

Join ACAP on the second Tuesday of each month for a free educational program. ACAP is an organization that supports adult child caregivers through education, resources, and support. Studies show that spending time in nature boosts energy, improves immune function, concentration and mood, increases vitamin D and reduces stress. Hiking also improves heart health, reduces muscle loss, keeps your body flexible and increases balance, while helping to prevent falls. Join the Active Adult Hiking Group for weekly hikes in and around the Centre Region to explore the beautiful trails this area has to offer.

Line dancing is an enjoyable and interactive exercise class set to lively music, offering a variety of physical and mental health benefits. By participating, you'll experience:

- Improved flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance
- Stronger bones and better cardiovascular health
- Enhanced mental sharpness and cognitive function
- Improved decision-making and quick thinking
No prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and energy! You can also give back to the community by participating in scheduled performances with the Silver Spurs Line Dancing Group, or simply join us for the fun and fitness.
Beginners meet every Wednesday from 10 AM to 10:30 AM. Come dance, get fit, and enjoy the rhythm!

Come and enjoy a friendly game of Bridge! Bridge's popularity has waxed and waned in the decades since its creation, but it remains one of the most popular four-player card games in the world. All levels of players are welcome.

Capitalizing on creativity promotes a positive outlook and sense of well-being. Join us and share your talents and knowledge with others who enjoy all forms of art. Please bring your own supplies. Supplies can be kept at the Center in locked cabinets.

Deeply rooted in Chinese medicine, meditation and martial arts, Tai Chi combines mental concentration with slow, controlled movements to focus the mind and challenge the body. This is an ongoing, multi-level practice group which includes individual and small group instruction. Beginners learn a 24 posture form that combines breathing with motion and balance. Ongoing warm-ups, stretching, and beginner instruction comprise the first hour. Intermediate and advanced forms are practiced during the second hour. New students are invited to attend the first class at no charge. Registration is required with Centre Region Parks and Recreation on their website at www.crpr.recdesk.com for each enrollment period. There is a $2 per class fee that is paid  to the Active Adult Center before each class you attend. Please wear loose-fitting clothing and sensible shoes.

Dime Bingo & Lunch in the Park

Join us for Dime Bingo and Lunch at Tudek Park Pavilion #1. Bring your dimes (You need $6.60 to play all 11 games), and a comfy lawn chair. We will be playing 10+ games of Dime Bingo. We will provide Bingo Cards. Each player can play a maximum of 2 bingo cards per game. Lunch will be Hot Dogs with a variety of toppings, chips, seasonal fresh fruit, soda and water. Door Prizes! Come Rain or Shine!

If you enjoy playing Mah Jongg, this is the group for you! The game combines skill, strategy, and calculation, played with 152 tiles featuring Chinese characters and symbols. While it involves a bit of chance, it's always fun for players of all levels. All skill levels are welcome!
 


Patio Harvest - Grow your own Veggies!

Spring Creek Park - Pavillion #1 
 

Join us for Patio Harvest, a fun and hands-on container gardening workshop where you’ll learn how easy it is to grow fresh cherry tomatoes right at home. Cherry tomatoes are one of the easiest and most rewarding vegetables to grow, producing sweet, flavorful tomatoes throughout the summer.
During this class, we will cover the basics of container gardening, including choosing the right pot, soil, watering, and simple care tips to help your plant thrive. Participants will plant their own cherry tomato container during the class and will go home with a plant of their own to care for and enjoy throughout the growing season.
Whether you have a patio, balcony, or small outdoor space, this workshop will give you the confidence to grow your own delicious tomatoes right at home

2nd Annual Active Adult Center Senior Field Day – A Day of Play & Nostalgia!
Step back in time and relive the joy of childhood at our AAC Field Day! This special event is designed just for seniors, blending classic outdoor games with fun mental challenges for a day filled with laughter, movement, and friendly competition.

Enjoy a variety of physical activities like egg races, a relay races, cornhole, and ring toss, along with mind-stimulating games such as trivia, memory challenges, and puzzles. Whether you’re looking to compete or simply have fun, there’s something for everyone!

After a morning of games, unwind with delicious snacks and a relaxing picnic lunch while reminiscing and connecting with friends.

Crafting with Nature at Tudek Park

Celebrate the beauty of spring at Tudek Park! Join us for Crafting with Nature, a hands-on outdoor program where creativity blossoms alongside the season. Surrounded by blooming flowers and fresh air, participants will use natural materials—like twigs, pinecones, wildflowers, and leaves—to create unique spring-inspired crafts such as bird feeders, nature prints, and decorative planters.

After the crafting fun, enjoy a light lunch in the park with friends and fellow nature lovers.
If you have any special dietary restrictions, please let us know when registering so we can accommodate your needs.

No crafting experience is needed—just a love of nature and a spark of creativity! All materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring along your own natural treasures collected from walks or gardens.

Come enjoy a relaxing morning in the park, connect with friends, and take home a little piece of spring!

Join Rachel from the Active Adult Center for easy and slow pace walks to explore our local parks and learn about our natural world along the way. Each walk has a different theme focusing on pollinators, tree identification and natural discovery.
