If a Special Event requires pre-registration, a link is provided that will take you to our external registration site for that particular event. Our Special Events are typically open for all ages, offer kid-friendly activities, and are held at various facilities throughout the year. If you're new to the area or just visiting, please visit our Find Your Park page for customizable directions to the event locations.

Summit the climbing wall, enjoy music and poolside yard games from the Rec on the Go Truck, glide down splashtacular slides, and tackle the inflatable Wibit on the water! Happy Valley Chef will be on site selling delicious wood-fire pizzas.  

Gifts received during Centre Gives support the Youth Scholarship Program to provide access to CRPR programs that promote physical and mental health and wellness, allow youth to explore their interests, and encourage the development of a life-long passion for the arts, environment, history, and fitness.


Playground Passport Pursuit

Parks around the region

Become a playground fanatic and explore many of the awesome playgrounds in the Centre Region!  There is no shortage of fun with over 50 parks in the area.  Make it your mission this summer to visit and complete a Playground Passport for an entry into a prize raffle.  

Download and print off the passport between June 1 and June 5 ( a link will be provided here).  Use it as your guide to complete the checklist, challenge activities, and coloring pages at 10 or more playgrounds.  Complete your passport by August 1, 2024, and return it to the CRPR Office at 2040 Sandy Dr.; Suite A, State College.  Incomplete passports will not be considered.  Share your adventures and tag us on Facebook:  @crpr1 or Instagram: @crpr_sc.

This two-part show includes classic acts from Capvara the Clown including juggling, magic, and contortion, and Adam Swartz Puppets taking puppets and people on an exciting quest in this interactive show created by the audience. Magical monsters! Fuzzy friends! And a dragon?

Service vehicles, first responders, fire trucks, and more!  Bring the kids out for an exciting afternoon of all things TRUCKS!  Climb, touch, honk horn!  This is a hands-on experience for all.  The first hour of the event is sensory-friendly with no horn honking.

Gather family and friends at your neighborhood park on Wednesday evenings for your favorite lawn and backyard games!  These free Game Nights are open to kids, individuals, and families of all ages.  Staff have a huge variety of tabletop and group games.

Build your boat, and race it at Welch Pool! Boats must be made from cardboard, paperboard, and duct tape ONLY (colored duct tape is OK). Boats may be a maximum of 7' long and 4' wide. Paddles/propulsion must also be homemade using the same materials (or use your hands/feet). The race course will be one length of the pool (25 yards). Racers will be divided by division and category and may be separated into heats.

We will host pre-judging at 8:30 AM (all entries must be present) and the races will begin thereafter. Costumes must be pool/swimmer safe. Lifeguards will be on duty.

Hey kids show your patriotism and be part of the FREE Annual CRPR Kids on Wheels Parade on July 4th!  Decorate your bike, scooter, stroller, or wagon, and meet us at the corner of Locust Lane and Foster Ave between 9:30 -10 AM.  The parade starts promptly at 10 AM and ends at Sidney Friedman Parklet for watermelon and games.  This is a fun way to start the holiday!

Get ready to ride and roll, folks! Join us for our Bike Rodeo and Outdoor Movie Night – the perfect combo for a fun-filled evening! This fun, free family event is open to all ages and tailored to children and youth with lots of fun activities designed to set young riders up for safety. Stay after the rodeo for an outdoor screening of a movie on our inflatable screen. (movie title to be announced!) This event is offered in partnership with PennDot and the Centre Region Planning Agency.

Swimming will take place at Welch Pool; the bike portion will use the bike path from Welch Pool to Blue Course Drive; the run portion will use the SCAHS field above the pool. Participants must be equipped with appropriate swimwear, their bicycle and helmet, and running shoes or sneakers. Parents/guardians should be present to assist with race transitions. The event will be held rain or shine; cancelation with a full refund in the event of thunder/lightning. Finishers will receive a custom CRPR Triathlon medal!

Race Information:
Ages 9-11: 100-yard swim, 2-mile bike, 1/2 mile run
Ages 6-8: 50-yard swim, 1-mile bike, 1/4 mile run

Play BINGO from your car or lawn chair and support the Centre Region Active Adult Center for a chance to win cash prizes!  1- (10) regular BINGO games will be called using an FM transmitter and loud speaker.  The evening will end with a JACKPOT game!  Admission includes one booklet of 10 games with six cards per game.  Additional regular game booklets can be purchased for $10 each, online or by cash or check the day of the event, while supplies last.  Early Bird BINGO game booklets, raffle tickets, and 50/50 drawing tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.  Bring a marker/dauber/pen highlighter to mark your cards.  Yard games will be set up to play during the breaks.

Find your float and join us at Park Forest Pool for a Dive-in Movie screening of "Migration!"  Gates open for evening swimming at 8 PM, and the movie will start at approximately 8:30 PM.  (No water slides for this event.)There will be yard games as well as food and rinks (non-alcoholic) available for purchase.  Staff will be handing out glow sticks.  Season passes are not valid for this event.

Why should the humans have all the fun at the pool?  Bring your favorite pooch out to the Annual Paws-A-Pool-ooza event!  Proof of license, vaccinations, and a waiver are required at check-in. Download the waiver and bring it with you and save time.

Recreate your seasonal masterpiece by following step-by-step instructions to paint your version of the featured painting. Snacks will be available to help feed your creativity. All materials will be provided. Come on your own, or bring a friend or family member.  This program is listed as an adult program, but children 8-18 years are welcome with a participating adult. Appropriate instructions will be given to children.

Circleville Park, 200 Little Lion Drive, State College PA

As fall peaks around the corner, we invite you to lace up your running shoes for the Fall Feet 5K Run/Walk! All event proceeds support the CRPR Youth Scholarships Program, which opens doors to recreation! This first-ever 5K/Fun Run will begin and end at Circleville Park in Patton Township. The race is open to all ages. We will hold a special Fun Run inside the park for kids, ages 10 & under!  The race course begins at Circleville Park (upper lot area), then travels out onto the Circleville Bike Path, up to Scotia Road (turn around), and back into the park where you'll loop around and finish. There are a few rolling hills along the way (avg. elevation gain of 211 feet). Register before September 1st and receive a custom race shirt!  This race is chip-timed by Falcon Race Timing. Prizes will be awarded to top runners in various age categories.  Details regarding packet pick-up will be shared closer to the date of the race.
