Here at the Active Adult Center, we try to offer something for everyone. Our extensive programs list shows just how true that is! We offer a wide variety of programs that include Health Awareness presentations, themed luncheons, holiday parties, games, crafts, fitness classes, specialty clubs, and more!

Numerous outings are planned throughout the year by the Active Adult Center. We take trips to farmers markets, Raystown Lake for a ride and lunch on the Proud Mary, and shopping and lunch at the Rusty Rail are just a few of our most popular!

ACAP (Adult Children of Aging Parents)ACAP

Second Tuesday of Each Month at 5:30 PM
Join ACAP on the second Tuesday of each month for a free educational program. ACAP is an organization that supports adult child caregivers through education, resources, and support. Studies show that spending time in nature boosts energy, improves immune function, concentration and mood, increases vitamin D and reduces stress. Hiking also improves heart health, reduces muscle loss, keeps your body flexible and increases balance, while helping to prevent falls. Join the Active Adult Hiking Group for weekly hikes in and around the Centre Region to explore the beautiful trails this area has to offer! Hikers meet at the Westerly Parkway Shopping Plaza at 9 AM April through October, and then 10 AM November through March.

Deeply rooted in Chinese medicine, meditation and martial arts, Tai Chi combines mental concentration with slow, controlled movements to focus the mind and challenge the body. This is an ongoing, multi-level practice group which includes individual and small group instruction. Beginners learn a 24 posture form that combines breathing with motion and balance. Ongoing warm-ups, stretching, and beginner instruction comprise the first hour. Intermediate and advanced forms are practiced during the second hour. New students are invited to attend the first class at no charge. Registration is required with Centre Region Parks and Recreation on their website at www.crpr.recdesk.com for each enrollment period. There is a $2 per class fee that is paid  to the Active Adult Center before each class you attend. Please wear loose-fitting clothing and sensible shoes.

Do you need a little "sparkle" in your life? Do you enjoy crafting? Then plan to join us once a month at the Active Adult Center as we teach the basics of jewelry making. Each class will teach a different technique in the art of making jewelry. All materials and tools needed are included. Reserve your seat for an evening of Quarter Bingo at the Active Adult Center! With your $3 reservation fee you will receive a 10-page booklet with six cards for each game. You will need to bring along $14 in quarters to play all 10 games. Each game, you add one additional quarter to the "pot" i.e. Game 1 $.25, Game 2 $.50, Game 3 $.75 until we reach 10 games. Winner, takes all. Our 11th game will be our 50/50 Jackpot game. Jackpot sheets with three cards each will be sold separately for $5. Winner of the Jackpot will received 50% of the total sales! Sloppy Joes, hot dogs, a variety of chips, desserts and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the Active Adult Center. Doors open at 4:45 PM. Bingo games start promptly at 5:30 PM. Seating is limited! Don't wait, bring your bingo dabber and reserve your spot today. Senior Summer Camp "Through the Decades"

If you fondly remember long summer days at Summer Camp filled with arts and crafts, team games, sing a longs and theme days, you're not alone! Plan to join us at the Active Adult Center for our "Through the Decades"  Senior Summer Camp! Each day we will explore a different decade and learn how it has impacted our lives today. Activities include arts and crafts, fitness, music, games, outdoor activities, and much more!
"Campers" must pre-register. Limited Seating available. Registration ends on 5/31/24. Participants can attend 1 day, 2 days or all 5 days, what best fits your scheduled.
