Youth Clogging Class

Clogging is an American form of folk dancing that started in the Appalachian Mountains. This percussion form of dance is a fun way to get aerobic exercise. Done to the down beat of the music, dancers wear a jazz-tap style shoe with a clogging style tap that is secured to the toe and the heel. These double-style taps make a jingling sound that can be heard while dancing or walking around. (Shoes not included in fee. Beginners can wear any dance shoe or socks.) For detailed info on clogging, please visit http://www.nittanyclogdancing.moonfruit.com

What is clogging? Please check out this YouTube video featuring CRPR Instructor Kimberly Filko.

Youth Martial Arts                       (In cooperation with Titan Fitness)

This class teaches all ranges of empty hand martial arts including, kicking, punching, close quarter (trapping), and ground self defense with a strong emphasis on practicality, street awareness, and application. This art and its techniques are then linked with the child safety component of the art to round out your child’s martial arts education. We feel a strong responsibility to teach our youth students how to use these techniques if a defense situation were to arise. In our experience of teaching children, we have seen significant results ranging from increased self-esteem and better grades in school to improved behavior at home. Martial arts training enhances many areas of a child’s life both physically and mentally.

Camp Bill“Afterschool Camp Bill”
    an Afterschool Drama Camp

We will take Shakespeare off the pages and put it on its feet! Students will get to know the characters, themes and setting, and speak the language until it feels natural to students, even if they have never read Shakespeare before. Working with Shakespeare the way that Shakespeare would have intended — as actors! NVSF teaching artists will cover a variety of topics surrounding Shakespeare’s life and work, plays (frequently in your school’s curriculum) and sonnets — acting, dancing, and stage combat – you name it. At the end of the session, we will put on a showcase for friends and families!
