Millbrook Marsh Nature Center Nature-Based CAMPS

PADDLING CAMPS - For youth entering Grades 6-9
Are you an adventurous teen looking for some excitement this summer? Then these camps are perfect for you! Our paddling camps include a mix instruction with expeditions, activities, and games for a complete introduction to the world of boating. Camps are led by experienced guides who are skilled paddlers, patient instructors, and are certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. A swim safety evaluation will be scheduled for all campers prior to the start of camps.

Fees for each paddling camp listed below are $280R/$420NR (R=resident; NR=non-resident).


Kayak Camps
Great for first time boaters or those who wish to strengthen their technique. Camp begins by learning the equipment basics; life jackets, parts of the kayak and paddle. Campers develop and practice the various kinds of paddle strokes and fundamentals of safe boat handling on flat water, and then venture out to explore local waterways.

Canoe Camp

This camp is for those who are not sure which they like to paddle – or like them all! Try canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding to see which you like the best! A swim safety evaluation will be scheduled for all campers prior to the start of camp.

Fly Fishing Camp - For youth entering Grades 5-8
Centre County has some of the best trout streams in the world! Campers learn the lifelong hobby of fly-fishing with hands-on instruction from patient local flyfishers while fishing local ponds and world renowned streams. Casting, fly-tying, stream reading and stream ethics are just a few of the techniques campers learn throughout the week. Rods, reels, tying kits and fly materials provided for use during camp. Campers should dress for the weather, bring protective eyewear (sunglasses) and pack a snack and water bottle. A swim safety evaluation will be scheduled for all campers prior to the start of camp.

Treasure Hunting in the Centre Region! - For youth entering Grades 5-8
Do you like treasure hunts? If the answer is yes, then this camp is for you!  Spend the week exploring the Centre Region and discover hidden “treasures” (geocaches) you never knew where there! People place caches in secret places with GPS coordinates and we hunt until we find them. Campers will learn the basics needed for geocaching and about the website to find additional caches in the region, as well as caches all over the county. The camp will create their own cache to hide in a secret location for future Geocachers to find! GPS units provided for use at camp.

OUTDOOR EXPLORER CAMPS – Camps are different so register for both! For youth entering Grades 5-8.

Fees for each of the Outdoor Explorer Camps are $175R/$262NR.


Outdoor Explorer Adventures ~New
For adventurers who wish to explore unique habitats within the Centre Region. During this exciting camp, hikers will discover birds, native plants, and waterways at various recreation areas, such as Black Moshannon and Bald Eagle State Parks as well as other destinations. Great mini adventures at places you can explore with a daypack. Children should be prepared to hike on the first day and to spend each afternoon exploring different environments. Please dress for the weather.

Outdoor Explorer Hiking Expeditions
This action packed exploration camp offers hands-on learning mixed with fun activities while hiking trails in the Centre Region. Campers will discover local hiking destinations; learn how to plan trips, practice Leave No Trace principles, and more! Children should be prepared to spend each afternoon exploring different terrains on the trails. Please dress for the weather.

Knee High Naturalist Summer Camp ~ New Themes & Activities for 2017!
For the young adventure who is excited about getting hands-on with nature! Come to Millbrook Marsh to discover wonders of the outdoors through leader led activities, games, songs, and unstructured nature play. Children will explore the marsh and learn about some of the animals and plants that inhabit the wetland ecosystem. Please dress for the weather and plan to get messy! 
Ages: 3-5 yrs, must be potty trained.
Both weeks of camp include the same activities so please only register for one week.

Wonderful Wetlands Camp - For youth entering Grades 1-5
This action packed, exciting camp offers nature exploration and hands-on learning mixed with fun games, creative crafts, and recreational activities while learning about wetlands and the natural world. Children should dress for the weather and be prepared for this outdoor camp.

Wonders of Nature Art Camp
Join local artist Susan Nicholas-Gephart to explore the natural world and to connect to the environment through outdoor painting! Young artists will use their senses to discover the wonders nature offers while applying their creativity to sketch and paint their own masterpieces. Campers will have the opportunity to work with different mediums including pencil sketching, watercolor, and pastels; and will leave camp with lifelong skills to continue to create beautiful pieces of art. All skill levels welcome. Teens must be able to work independently and creatively and focus on both guided and free art activities for the five hour time period. KIDVenture CampKidVenture Camp

KIDVenture Camps understand what it means to be a KID! Join our qualified and enthusiastic KIDVenture staff for an exciting summer of discovery, adventure and fantastic memories! Each week boasts an exciting theme as well as time for swimming, field trips and much more! Camp hours are 7:30 AM -5:30 PM, but
9 AM - 4 PM is KIDVenture program time. Some field trips may require an additional fee.

Wee KIDVenture Camp
Wee KIDVenture offers boys and girls summer fun in one or multiple week sessions during our 8-week program.  Our themed weeks involve activities that engage our campers in a variety of awesome activities including arts & crafts, special events, messy fun projects, music, reading stories, water fun and course loads of play time!  Consider this high-quality summer adventure designed to give your child an entertaining and safe experience with dedicated and qualified staff.
Date:      Monday-Friday; June 19 - August 11 (Campers register for as many weeks as they want to attend.)

Ages:      Ages 3-5 yrs. (who have not attended Kindergarten & are potty trained)

Musical Theatre Camp – “Sound of Music” 
CRPR is thrilled to partner with Recreational Arts, out of NJ to offer these wildly successful musical theatre camps.  Daily vocal, acting, and dance lessons will be enhanced by fun theatre games and activities.  On the last day of camp, friends and family will be amazed by a performance of these favorite songs from the film and Broadway show:  “Do-Re-Mi”, “Edleweiss”, “The Lonely Goatherd”, “My Favorite Things”, “So Long-Farewell”, and “The Sound of Music”!

This singing, dance, and acting camp will feature songs from the Broadway and film hit, The Lion King!  Songs include “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, “Chow Down”, “Circle of Life”, “Endless Night”, and “Hakuna Matata”!  Daily vocal, acting and dance lessons will be enhanced by fun theatre games and activities.  On the last of camp, friends and family will be amazed by how much has been learned in only 5 days!

Teen Treks
CRPR is opening doors to adventure for your teen this summer with this camp for kids entering grades
7-9.  This active camp embarks on 3-day trips to awesome places in PA. CAMP IS HELD RAIN OR SHINE AND THERE ARE NO REFUNDS! Alternative trips may occur in events of severe weather.
Dates:   June 26-30 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
Register at least one week in advance.
Time:    8:00 AM-6:00 PM (Some trips may leave earlier/return later)
