Go treasure hunting, catch a fish, climb Mount Nittany, paint en plein air, kayak Spring Creek, and much more this summer. Adventure awaits you at a Specialty Summer Camp at the Marsh! 

Paddling Camps 

Are you an adventurous teen looking for some excitement this summer? Then these camps are perfect for you! Our paddling camps include a mix instruction with expeditions, activities, and games for a complete introduction to the world of boating. Camps are led by experienced guides who are skilled paddlers, patient instructors, and are certified in First Aid and CPR. A swim safety evaluation will be scheduled for all campers prior to the start of camps.

Kayak Camps

Great for first time boaters or those who wish to strengthen their technique. Camp begins by learning the equipment basics; life jackets, parts of the kayak and paddle. Campers develop and practice the various kinds of paddle strokes and fundamentals of safe boat handling on flat water, and then venture out to explore local waterways.

Boating Adventures

This camp is for those who are not sure which they like to paddle – or like them all! Try canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding to see which you like the best! A swim safety evaluation will be scheduled for all campers prior to the start of camp.

Child fly fishingFly Fishing Camp

Centre County has some of the best trout streams in the world! Campers learn the lifelong hobby of fly-fishing with hands-on instruction from patient local fly fishers while fishing local ponds and world renowned streams. Casting, stream reading and stream ethics are just a few of the techniques campers learn throughout the week. Rods and reels are provided for use during camp. Campers should dress for the weather, bring protective eyewear (sunglasses) and pack a snack and water bottle. All participants will receive a one year Trout Unlimited Membership at no additional cost thanks to The Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited. A swim safety evaluation will be scheduled for all campers prior to the start of camp.

Fly Tying Camp ~ Newfly

Become in tune with the stream while learning the lifelong hobby of fly tying. Conduct a stream study in local waterways to learn about macroinvertebrates and their life cycles. Tie a variety of flies and build  your collection to take home. All materials provided. Pack a snack and water bottle. All participants will receive a one year Trout Unlimited Membership at no additional cost thanks to The Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Registered for both Fly Camps? Your camper will be invited to join our lunch bunch group from 12pm-1pm free of charge. Campers will eat with Millbrook Marsh Staff, play games, and/or go on walks at the marsh.

Join local artist Susan Nicholas-Gephart to explore the natural world and to connect to the environment through outdoor painting! Young artists will use their senses to discover the wonders nature offers while applying their creativity to sketch and paint their own masterpieces. Campers will have the opportunity to work with different mediums including pencil sketching, watercolor, and pastels; and will leave camp with lifelong skills to continue to create beautiful pieces of art. All skill levels welcome. Teens must be able to work independently and creatively and focus on both guided and free art activities for the five hour time period. Treasure Hunting in the Centre Region!four children posing with geo caching devices

Do you like treasure hunts? If the answer is yes, then this camp is for you!  Spend the week exploring the Centre Region and discover hidden “treasures” (geocaches) you never knew were there! People place caches in secret places with GPS coordinates and we hunt until we find them. Campers will learn the basics needed for geocaching and about the website to find additional caches in the region, as well as caches all over the county. The camp will create their own cache to hide in a secret location for future Geocachers to find! GPS units provided for use at camp.

Map of state parksOutdoor Explorer Adventures 

For adventurers who wish to explore unique habitats within the Centre Region. During this exciting camp, hikers will discover birds, native plants, and waterways at various recreation areas, such as Black Moshannon and Bald Eagle State Parks as well as other destinations. Great mini adventures at places you can explore with a daypack. Children should be prepared to hike on the first day and to spend each afternoon exploring different environments. Please dress for the weather.

Outdoor Explorer Hiking Expeditions

This action packed exploration camp offers hands-on learning mixed with fun activities while hiking trails in the Centre Region. Campers will discover local hiking destinations; learn how to plan trips, practice Leave No Trace principles, and more! Children should be prepared to spend each afternoon exploring different terrains on the trails. Please dress for the weather.

Knee High Naturalist Summer Camps

For the young adventurer who is excited about getting hands-on with nature! Come to Millbrook Marsh to discover wonders of the outdoors through leader led activities, games, songs, and unstructured nature play. Children will explore the marsh and learn about some of the animals and plants that inhabit the wetland ecosystem. Please dress for the weather and plan to get messy! 

Ages: 3-5 yrs, must be potty trained.
