Marsh boardwalk visitor in the winter

What is there to do at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center?

Millbrook Marsh provides a wonderful natural environment for outdoor activities and exploration. You can spend an hour walking the trails and boardwalk through the marsh, pack a picnic and enjoy watching the wildlife, or even bring an easel and paint the beautiful scenery. If you are looking for more than a casual trip, check out: Seasonal ProgramsSpecial Events, or Walk with a Naturalist.

Boardwalk Closures and Feasibility Study

Sections of the Millbrook Marsh boardwalk are closed due to unsafe structural conditions. Attempting to gain access to closed sections of the boardwalk puts you at risk of injury and damages the sensitive vegetation and wildlife of the marsh. Please respect the barriers and stay on the open paths and grounds only. We want to keep all of our visitors, wildlife, and marsh ecosystem safe. Thank you for your cooperation. A Boardwalk Feasibility Study is being conducted to determine the next steps for the boardwalk and trails at Millbrook Marsh. Part I of the study was completed in July 2021 and the outcomes include recommendations to replace the existing boardwalk and bridges with an updated design for accessibility and longevity, improve boardwalk access trails for accessibility, and complete Part II of the Boardwalk Feasibility Study.

Part II study is drafted. This report will include the botanical survey, Phase 1 Archeological survey, hydrologic and hydraulic stream model, stabilization streambank recommendations, review, regulatory cost estimates, and information about the geotechnical borings and constructability. We continue to thank our community for understanding and respecting these closures and welcome your questions and comments. For more information about the study, view the Boardwalk Progress Report.
