William L. Welch Community Swimming Pool - Master Site Plan
User Survey Results - August 2007
Surveys were handed out to the following groups on 4 Aug 07:
1. 40 to CRPR KidVenture Camp Parents (Camper ages 6-12)
2. 150 to Welch Pool Swim Team members (Swimmer ages 5-18)
190 Total Distributed. See Page 2 for the survey form.
These groups represent two demographic user groups of the many that use Welch Pool.
49 Surveys (26%) were returned as of 28 Aug 07
94% wanted more water/play features 46/49
6% wanted about the same features as now 3/49
61% felt that the pool was too small 30/49
39% felt that the pool was about the right size 19/49
The following features were ranked as the most (#1) to least (#6) desirable features:
1. More water slides (average 2.9 slides total requested)
2. Speed water slide (straight & fast, as opposed to a regular slide as in #1 above)
3. Vortex (whirlpool in the pool)
4. Current channel
5. Splash playground or spray pad area
6. Diving boards
The following were listed as desirable features at a new aquatic facility:
80% More shade areas 39/49
71% Pavilion 35/49
59% Water basketball 29/49
57% Sand volleyball 28/49
51% Water volleyball 25/49
37% More grass area 18/49
35% Dedicated lap swim (all day) 17/49
22% ½ court basketball 11/49
Concessions:
51% thought that we should have a snack bar, with no outside food allowed 25/49
49% thought that we should continue to have vending machines, with outside food allowed 24/49
