The Aquatics Feasibility Study
(involved both outdoor pools)
In a continuing effort to provide
the best and most cost-effective aquatic
opportunities for the Centre Region, CRRA has, with grant assistance
from
DCNR, funded two studies that research what improvements should
and could be
made to the Park Forest Community Swimming Pool (built in 1970)
and William L. Welch Community Swimming Pool (opened in 1959).

Feasibility Study (March 2002), funded with a $7,500 grant from PA DCNR, a $1,000 contribution from the State College Area Family YMCA, and local municipal contributions. This study was prepared by Water Technology Inc., Beaver Dam, WI. |
Extended Aquatics
Study:
On Aug. 2004, the
CRRA / CRPR Board endorsed and released the Extended
Aquatics Study for consideration by the members
of the COG General Forum and the public. |

The current Park Forest Pool is scheduled to close on at 8PM on Sunday, August 3, 2008
and the new pool will open in May 2009.
