- Millbrook Marsh Nature Center
Volunteer group – Wild Dream Team from SCASD. Contact: Jennie Lee
27 volunteers from approximately 9:30am to 2:30 pm.
CRPR provided 2 maintenance staff on site to assist. Molly and Melissa also coordinated on site. We provided tools such as litter pickers, loppers, snips, rake’s, brooms, gloves and garbage bags. Beth Lee coordinated lunch and beverages to be delivered on site.
The group trimmed pathways back, picking litter while walking the path. They also policed other parts of the grounds for litter left behind from storm/flooding. They swept, cleaned organized and dusted the barn on both levels.
- Circleville Park Volunteer group – PNC Bank, Contact: Dennie Fetzer
4 volunteers (who traveled from Harrisburg to help). 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
CRPR provided guidance as to scope of project, stain, rags, gloves, brushes, grill paint, rollers & pads. The group stained the porta potty corals and the garbage area coral. They stained the Frisbee golf warning posts that boarder the walking path. The group cleaned, wire brushed, and re painted the cooking grills. Beth Lee coordinated lunch delivered on site for the group.
- Holmes Foster Park Volunteer group – University Park Plaza Corp. Contact: Kathy Stephens
3 volunteers from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
CRPR provided guidance on project, stain, brushes, rollers/pads, rags, grill paint, gloves and wire brushes. The group cleaned and wire brushed the cooking grills and repainted them. They stained the parking pylons in both upper and lower parking lots. They stained various other sign posts. They stained the new retaining wall adjacent to the rest room and also stained the garbage coral located at the lower parking lot. Beth Lee coordinated lunch on site for the group.
- Nittany Orchard Park* Volunteer group – Skills (the park partner for this park)
7 volunteers plus chaperones from 10:45 am to 12:30 pm
CRPR provided a maintenance staff person to help and guide the group. Tools provided were rakes, brooms, litter pickers, and garbage bags. The group swept off the tennis and basketball courts, picked up litter and sticks throughout the park, as well as some leaf raking. Beth Lee coordinated lunch on site for the group.
* This group is the Park Partner group who decided to do their PP workday on the day of caring, and was not organized through the United Way Office
DONATIONS
- Ace Hardware at Hills Plaza donated 6 packs of paint brushes (4 brushes per pack)
- Porter Brothers Paints donated 4 high-quality paint brushes
- Sherwin Williams of N. Atherton St. donated 3 gallons of exterior wood stain
- Home Depot donated 8 gallons of black exterior paint for the fencing at Hess.
