Volunteer & Employment Opportunities:
FALL 2008 & WINTER 2009

NOTE: A listing of Summer 2009 positions will be published in mid-Dec. 2008


This publication is intended to outline the fall & winter volunteer and employment opportunities the agency offers, and to try to assure that your interests are matched with the best position(s). PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FORM.

NOTE: In 2003 the CRPR Board adopted the “CRPR Child Safety Policy” which requires criminal background checks and child abuse clearances from the Commonwealth of PA. on (1) all CRPR program staff working with children under age 18 and (2) all parks maintenance staff. The policy was strengthened in 2007 to require a nationwide criminal records check. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon those clearances. Before you apply, please review the Child Safety Policy available at the CRPR website.

A. All applicants, including former employees, must complete an application each calendar year. All seasonal employees are employed one year at a time.

B. Priority will be given to applicants residing in the Centre Region. Further, we prefer to hire not more than one person / family.

C. Note on your application the days and the start / end dates that you will be available for employment.

D. A photocopy of your driver’s license must be submitted with your employment application.

E. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.

F. We will contact the applicants that best meet the qualifications listed.

G. All the positions are hourly, seasonal in nature, and carry NO benefits (other than Worker’s Compensation Insurance for on-the-job injuries).

MILLBROOK MARSH NATURE CENTER STAFF

PROGRAM LEADERS: (Up to 5 part-time positions)

A. Job Duties: Planning and leading nature programs for children, including school group field trip programs, assisting with planning special events and family programs.

B. Season: Sept. & Oct. - Mon-Fri., 8AM-2PM (flexible schedule, mostly mornings & early afternoons.)

C. Pay Scale: $7.50 - $8/hr depending on experience.

D. Qualifications: Education/recreation background, experience working with young children and leading educational programs preferred.

Hours are subject to reduction or rescheduling due to inclement weather. Employees may be told to stay home (without pay) pending weather.


OFFICIALS: ADULT FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE: (up to 4 positions)

A. Job Duties: Officiate games for the adult flag football league.

B. Season: Sundays in Sept., Oct. and Nov.

C. Pay Scale: $10/hr.

D. Qualifications: Previous officiating experience preferred. Minimum Age: 18.


OFFICIALS: ADULT VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE: (up to 3 positions)

A. Job Duties: Officiate games for the adult volleyball league.

B. Season: Mon-Thur. evenings, Sept.- Dec. (1 - 4 nights/wk. available).

C. Pay Scale: $8-$9/hr depending on qualifications & experience.

D. Qualifications: Previous volleyball officiating experience preferred. Minimum Age: 18.


OFFICIALS & SCOREKEEPERS: YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE: (up to 4 positions)

A. Job Duties: Officiate youth basketball games or keep score for youth basketball games (Grades 7-8).

B. Season: Mon-Sat., Jan. through Mar. (on Mon. and Wed. evenings).

C. Pay Scale: $7.50-$8.50 depending on experience.

D. Qualifications: Previous basketball experience is required. Minimum Age: 18.


VOLUNTEER COACHES: YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE (up to 6 positions)

A. Job Duties: Coach youth basketball team (Grades 7-8).

B. Season: Games scheduled Jan. - mid-March.

C. Qualifications: Some basketball experience required. Minimum Age: 18.


INSTRUCTOR: “START SMART” SOCCER (up to 3 positions)

A. Job Duties: Instruct 3 - 5 year olds and their parents to play organized soccer.

B. Season: Sundays through Thursdays, Sept 16 through October 25.

C. Pay Scale: $9 - $10/hr depending on experience.

D. Qualifications: Previous soccer experience. Minimum Age: 18
