General
Operations |
- Promote
the benefits and availability of local recreation opportunities
in parks and programs.
- Provide effective, efficient, and safe program & facility operations
(including customer services, parks, senior center, nature center, aquatics).
- Continue website operations / updates and promotion of the website; integrate
the Internet-based solution for P&R services by customers. Utilize
the services to improve communication with our customers.
- Search & apply for available grants for improvements, operations,
and for capital projects (re: regional and municipal projects).
- Develop a Memorandum of Understanding with SCASD regarding group scheduling
on the leased sites (Fogleman & the elem. school ballfields).
- Work to improve the dialog with SCASD in matters related to the uses
of the schools and of municipal facilities (policies, programs, facilities).
- Provide staff support to the discussions by the COG Ad Hoc Regional Park
Committee about the future of P&R operations. |
Programs,
Leagues,
Special Events |

Increase program participation and net revenue. Add
new programs and special events as resources & opportunities
permit. This includes exploring grants, league sponsorships,
new fitness programs and sport leagues, cooperation
with SCASD, additional class locations, and new partnership
opportunities.
- Implement the changes to the summer camp programs to increase participation
and revenue.
- Continue to improve the effectiveness of the CRPR Leisure Guide.
- Plan and initiate the CRPR Youth Sports Outreach Initiatives for coach
and sport parent education.
- Develop and implement a League Registration / Payment Policy (for adult
sport league teams). |
| Aquatics |

Explore and implement new and/or updated program ideas & special
events for aquatics.
- Explore and implement new ways to increase revenue and attendance at
the outdoor community pools over the next few years (prior to renewal);
recover from the ‘04 budget deficit.
Pool
Renewals:
- Begin researching
and planning ideas for programs and use for the renewed
outdoor pools (mainly at this point to assist with any
design process).
- Park Forest Community Pool: apply for a state grant to assist with developing
a Site Master Plan for the renewal of that facility.
- Welch Community Pool: There are now two site choices. We must continue
to work for municipal & school consensus on the process to update /
improve / replace the facility. |
| Facilities |

Maximize the effectiveness of CRPR maintenance services.
- Complete the renovation of 5 leased ballfields at 3 SCASD elementary
schools.
- Work with the municipalities on park improvements, playground safety
projects, new park developments.
- Pending a grant extension beyond June, continue to work with the PCC
program for park projects.
- Pending the completion of the acquisition process of the Oak Hall Parkland
by COG (expected by June ‘05), work with the respective municipalities
on funding the park master planning process. |
Senior
Center |

Continue to search for ways to improve the promotion
of programs offered at the (expanded) Senior Center.
- Implement a new mental fitness program, as well as new programs which
promote health.
- Develop new programs, partners, and donations to reduce municipal costs.
Continue to add programs that are financially self-supporting. |
Nature
Center |
-
Continue to develop and promote new programs, group
programs & special events to increase visibility
and visitations by residents and tourists.

Focus on extending group services to more (1) charter
schools, (2) church schools, and (3) homeschool groups.
- Continue to develop
the “CRPR Explorer Series” programs at the
nature center and other CRPR facilities.
- Explore options to begin offering training and development opportunities
for area school teachers related to PA State Environment & Ecology
Standards.
- Promote facility rentals (barn & pavilion).
- Continue to seek volunteers, program or project partners, interns, donations & grant
funds.
- Continue to develop training methods and materials for volunteers and
for temporary staff hired throughout the year.
- Complete the EPA Grant program tasks during 2005 (Wetlab construction).
- Develop, purchase, and install property signs (interpretive, regulatory
and informational).
- Capital Improvements / Capital Campaign:
• Finalize strategy and
COG General Forum approvals, then proceed with MMNC Capital Campaign.
• Parking lots construction; landscape
plantings, connecting pathways.
• Wetlab: complete planning and proceed
with construction. |
