History of The Center

Senior Hiking

The Active Adult Center (ACC), is a 7,075 square foot space located inside the Nittany Mall and is leased by the Authority. The AAC receives its funding from the municipalities that participate in Centre Region Parks and Recreation and the Centre County Office of Aging. Van transportation and lunchtime meals are also provided by the Office of Aging. Membership is free; some programs require a fee.

The AAC is formerly known as the "State College Senior Citizens Center" and "Centre Region Senior Center" has been in service since 1976. The Center moved to a temporary location in the mall back in 2015, while renovations were in place for the current space. It wasn't until 2017 that we officially took over the new mall location.

Relocation history:

  • From 1976-1986, the AAC was located at the Christian Church, Easterly Parkway, State College
  • From 1986-2015, the group moved to Fraser Street, State College
  • In September, 2015, the Center temporarily relocated to the Nittany Mall, Suite #814
  • In January, 2017, the Center moved to its current location inside the Nittany Mall, Suite #990.
