Question 13 – Additional comments:

    • Please increase the number of tennis courts, pool & golf facilities in the Halfmoon Twp area.
    • A city of this size really could use some well maintained, nice, soccer fields.
    • Actually we've lived in Harris Township for 10 years, but that's not an option above.
    • Add wind rows (pine/fir) to reduce wind speed across playing fields. Wind generation should be considered for any power demands.
    • Again, because the soccer program is so successful and growing, new fields are needed.
    • An indoor tennis facility would be a great idea to accommodate all the tennis enthusiasts in the area.
    • An indoor tennis facility would be a welcome, versatile, necessary addition to the parks and recreation offerings. It would be a one-of-a-kind facility in the area, and would enjoy constant usage by youth and adults. It is sorely needed.
    • As regular park visitors, my family is looking forward to the new options!
    • As stated above, some indoor sports facilities would really be a big deal in state college, I have talked to so many people interested in this kind of facility.
    • Avid bikers, hikers, raising seeing-eye puppy
    • Bathroom facilities are important.
    • CRPR does a wonderful job with their parks. We really enjoy the variety offered at the different parks. We especially enjoy flashlight tag at Circleville Park, picnics at the Tot Lot, walking our dog at Tudeck, wading at Spring Creek, and sledding
    • Do not move Welch Pool!
    • Dog Park!!! Walking/bike trails are also very nice and popular.
    • Each township /borough probably has a Rec/Park committee and whoever is responsible for a specific park(s) should inspect periodically and report shortcomings, such as conditions mentioned above Re: tennis courts.
    • food stands
    • Generally, the parks in the area are wonderful, but it sure would be great if we had more tennis courts!
    • Please consider adding lit courts to both parks. Thank you for your time and effort in planning the new parks!
    • Good job for centre region on their planning efforts!
    • Good luck. It will be difficult to plan these two large-tract parks....
    • Grass Tennis Courts would be great!
    • Grays Woods’s park is nice; it could use more shade trees though. The walking track is great. It is also nice that you can walk up the path to the elementary school circle around and come back and walk the track. It makes for a good walk.
    • Have started to use the Patton township park on a regular basis since learning of the Disc Golf Course there. Thanks!
    • I am speaking as a college student attending PSU. I live really close to state college and am speaking for my family as well.
    • I am thankful for the beautifully designed parks and programs here. The parks are part of what makes this area so wonderful for raising a family.
    • I am very pleased with the recreation facilities CRP&R provides and their organization of sports activities. I hope they can keep up with demand as the area grows.
    • I answered NO to #5 above because the bike paths are not all connected safely.
    • It'd be nice to give the kids a sizeable free place to ice skate in the winter months. I realize this is an expensive request but kids and adults would love to use a facility
    • I believe soccer fields are needed in the area.
    • I don't want my email address included in any mailings from parks & red. or any partner of parks and rec.
    • I listed in an earlier question that I was not satisfied with the parks. I want to clarify that the parks we have are really great, but we just need more of them. Thanks.
    • I live in the residential Whitehall Road and Blue Course Drive area, it remains somewhat natural, would like to see as much of the natural areas of those acres remain, would be quite upset to have that area become a lighted sports field.
    • I love the view of Mt. Nittany from the Oak Hall property. Please preserve the beauty of that view and sense of remoteness. Perhaps hiking or walking trail could provide access to the Mt. Nittany trails.
    • I often drive past the Welsh Pool, and this summer it seemed rather empty. Please don't commit the region to paying for extravagant extras that there may not be much demand for; we don't need to compete with commercial water parks.
    • I think that you should be speaking with property owners that live on lots that directly border park areas before installing things like tennis courts. It's also imperative that there is proper & convenient access to these parks and facilities.
    • I think the State College areas parks are wonderfully maintained. These areas are largely responsible for S.C. always being chosen as one of the best places to live. These facilities also go a long way to giving youth a positive way to spend their time
    • I think there are plenty of playgrounds, but not enough fields and also indoor facilities for groups such as basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, etc to practice inside.
    • I think we have a very nice selection of parks and Recreational areas in the region but as we grow there will always be demand for more. Keep up the good work.
    • I think we really need additional soccer fields. With soccer being such a popular sport in this area, our children need more fields to play on. There are many times they can't play or practice because there aren't any fields available.
    • I think we should have a zoo, amusement park or a water park in Centre County!
    • I think you do a great job with what you have - the two things lacking are more nature trails (Millbrook right now is about the only place that really focuses on Nature, and more soccer fields.
    • I work for the school district and so am interested in activities for children as well as myself as a single person.
    • I would be willing to participate and financially contribute in fundraising activities if special amenities were added to this park, esp. Whitehall which is very near SCAHS.
    • I would like to encourage the construction of a remote control airfield. Since this is a hobby that is enjoyed by many people but adequate safe facilities are not often available.
    • I would like to see some play structures catering to older children. It would be great to help keep them active and outside.
    • I would love to have a park in Oak Hall! You all do a great job with our parks - thanks for all of your hard work!
    • If the park is easily accessible and has activities for all ages, it will be used.
    • Indoor soccer anyone?
    • indoor tennis courts would be nice
    • Indoor tennis courts would definitely be used.

    • It really would be nice to have more indoor tennis courts for winter use!
    • It's nice to have parks with activities for all ages, especially as we visit them with our grandchildren and children now. As a past member of the College Township P & R board it's nice to see parks we created, now with mature trees!
    • I've really enjoyed the step aerobics classes and special events at Millbrook Marsh. Keep that land from being developed!
    • Keep up the good work. I think the parks already in existence are generally well planned and maintained.
    • Keep up the good work. Thanks for looking for community input.
    • Lifetime sports and fitness are two activities that one can do and needs to do throughout a lifetime.
    • Schools do a fair job but the students are not that aware of their importance until later in life when they must pay for facilities.
    • Like I said the traffic is kind of an issue. I walk my dog every night and wouldn't want to have to fight traffic to take that walk.
    • Loving Tudek, but would LOVE to have lighting and more grass! Thanks for all the hard work!!
    • Make College Township maintain the Spring Creek to Boalsburg bike path in the winter PLEASE!!!!!!
    • More dog parks!!
    • More soccer fields
    • More than anything, I think what we really need is some facilities that provide indoor space for sports and activities.
    • need a large indoor sports facility desperately for the 4 months out of the year that it is hard to be outside
    • Once again, please consider the where these parks occur. They are not in town. Please preserve the integrity of the surrounding landscape and do as much as possible to minimize the environmental impacts to the groundwater supply and Spring Creek.
    • Our community desperately needs year round tennis courts!!!
    • play tennis 4x/wk and walk 4 dogs
    • Please consider building an indoor tennis facility.

    • Pool plans look great! Fantastic job! Stick to it and get them done.
    • Public spaces and parks are one of the important features that attracted to the State College area 10+ years ago. Thanks for managing these valuable community resources and offering programming that complements the use of these spaces so very well!
    • Question 10: I technically don't live in one of the 5 municipalities, but I work and recreate in the Centre Region (for 15 years now).
    • question number 2 is rude
    • Re: #5, very satisfied with what exists, but more diverse options are needed.
    • Really love the parks in our area - we use them a lot. Pavilion usage seems to be an issue and know that you are taking steps to make more available.
    • See 8; also evening lighting in parks (courts, picnic areas) would be appreciated.
    • Some existing parks could use some immediate attention in regards to playground equipment updates.
    • They would be much more family friendly and appealing to gather at. The Water fountain at Park Hills park is non-functional.
    • Tennis bubble would be great. There are only 4 indoor tennis courts in State College area.
    • Tennis is a lifelong pursuit for All ages. In order to be competitive kids must be able to play year round.

    • Thank you. It is so important to keep Centre Co. green
    • Thank you. We have lovely parks here; most are guarded toward young children. I'd love to see some out of the box things for teens and older. Also, winters are so... long here I think indoor facilities are a real need and in high demand here.
    • Thanks for all your good work!
    • Thanks for asking for our opinions!
    • Thanks for doing this - more facilities are greatly needed, and will make State College an even nicer area to live in!
    • Thanks for making more parks and open spaces!! Also, any additional areas to bike would be very much appreciated!
    • thanks for planning to add more parks, the facilities are already great, but need something to attract especially young people of the 10-19 age groups
    • Thanks for taking the time to ask us what we would like to see in the new parks. I think that CRPR does a terrific job with the parks that they currently oversee and I'm sure the new parks will be wonderful as well.
    • Thanks for the opportunity
    • Thanks so much for including the community in this!
    • Thanks to the Committee for your good work. I appreciate it.
    • The area is in dire need of indoor tennis courts....the PSU Tennis Center doesn't have enough court time for everyone.
    • The Centre Region is the greatest place to live and your efforts reinforce my strong feelings.
    • The Centre Region Parks program has always been outstanding. I love the variety of parks available and the fact that they have helped to preserve some of the most beautiful landscape in our region.
    • The inclusion of sport fields will help CRPR reduce the use of school properties and provide programming flexibility. Facilities need to be as maintenance free as possible and use green technology.
The main thing to think about when planning a large park area is the safety factor. It would need to be safe for nightly walks, etc.
    • The parks in Center County are outstanding. Please keep trees trimmed that line the sidewalks.
    • The parks in this area are amazing, thank you!
    • The region has plenty of softball fields and jogging/walking paths. Personally, I am into riding bicycles and playing tennis and racquetball. Penn State's facilities are pretty good except for tennis.

    • We love centre parks & rec!!

    • We really love the parks and rec courses that are offered and thank you for providing this service to the community. I personally use the walking paths at Tudek and would love to see more of them incorporated into new parks.
    • We really need a dedicated indoor soccer facility. School gyms are not a solution. A simple large building with a few turf fields would never be empty in this area
    • We really need more year round tennis facilities.
    • We’re looking forward to your plans for these parks, particularly the Whitehall location, as it's quite close to our house.
    • What distinguishes these properties from existing regional and neighborhood parks? Find what makes them unique and design the parks to emphasize this uniqueness.
    • winter tennis courts
    • Year-round tennis courts, swimming pools, open fields, and playground equipment would all be appreciated by many.
