- Centre Region Picnic Pavilion Reservations are being accepted for Centre Region Park areas. Reservations may be made for the 2008 picnic season, April 12 - Oct. 26 , in person or over the phone, with payments due in full at the time the reservation is made. Winter Family Fun Hike These hikes are a great way to stretch your legs during the winter. Join a nature center naturalist to explore Millbrook Marsh in winter and enjoy the fresh air. Healthy Steps in Motion Exercise Program This low impact exercise will work on improving balance, flexibility, strength and reduce the risk of falling and can be done in a chair or standing. Participants will use hand-held weights and exercise bands, which will be provided. Mondays & Fridays, 10:15- 11:15 AM. FREE!

Tues., March 4

Seniors Hiking Group meets at 10 AM to begin a moderate hike in the great outdoors. Various locations in and around State College. Call 231-3076 for more info about this FREE program.

Centre Region Senior Social Club. This active group of adults, ages 55 +, meet to plan activities, trips, and programs. Meetings are normally held on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesday of each month from 11:30 AM - 2 PM at the Senior Center. Lunch is served at 11:30 AM followed by social time, a program meeting and the featured program at 1PM. For meal or van service reservations, please call 231-3076 by 10 AM on the Monday prior.

Youth Lacrosse Begins - Learn the fundamentals of lacrosse through this instructional program. Age-appropriate drills and games designed for youth in grades 6 - 8. Judo Instruction Session II starts Learn this form of martial arts in this co-ed program for youth ages 8-13, as of 01-01-08. Instruction provided by the Penn State Judo Club. Tuesday and Thursdays for 16 classes (Jan. 15 - Mar. 6). 5:30-7 PM at Mt. Nittany Middle School. Fee: $32 Residents / $48 Non-residents. Contact CRPR to register at 231-3071.

Wrestling/Youth Sports Skills Session II Begins: This program designed for youth ages 5 - 10 introduces basic wrestling skills though drills and games. CRPR Teen Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt - This is not your little sister/brother’s egg hunt. This is bigger, better, darker and extremely cool for kids in grades 6-8. Meet at the Nature Center Barn at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center at 8:00PM and don’t forget to bring a flashlight. This event is FREE, but advanced registration is necessary. CRPR Annual Easter Egg Hunt - Center Region Parks & Recreation’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Orchard Park, near the corner of Bayberry Dr. And Blue Course Drive. Prize baskets will again be provided by members of the State College Rotary Club. The hunt will begin at 2:00 PM SHARP so please arrive in time to meet the Easter Bunny! Rain or shine. Girl’s Rhythmic Gymnastics Begins This Olympic sport is a combination of dance, gymnastics movements and apparatus handling. There are five apparatus - rope, ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon. Participants of this class will develop poise, flexibility, and self-assurance which will benefit them in everything that they do. Offered for girls ages 6-12 years old. Tumble Tots Spring Classes Begin: A developmental movement class designed for boys and girls ages 3 - 5. Jumpin’ Gymnastics Spring Classes Begin: A recreational class for boys and girls enrolled in grades K - 2nd. Designed to be a FUN experience learning basic gymnastics skills. Youth Swimming Lessons - Session 3 Begins: Get kids comfortable and competent in the water before summer arrives! CRPR offers swimming lessons for Preschool through age 14. Lifeguarding (American Red Cross Certification) Begins: This course will provide skills necessary to become a professional lifeguard. Successful candidates will receive certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR for professional rescuer. Candidates must be at least 15 years of age and pass a swimming skills pretest.
