* Centre Region Picnic Pavilion Reservations are being accepted for any of the 23 pavilions at 17 Centre Region Park areas. Reservations may be made for the 2008 picnic season, April 13 - Oct. 26, in person or over the phone, with payments due in full at the time the reservation is made. For fee and reservation information, contact CRPR at 231-3071 or or explore this website for details.
* CRPR Outdoor Community Pool Early Bird Incentive Get your season pass early and save! Purchase your season pool pass, on or before April 30, 2008, and your fee will be reduced $5.00. This incentive does not apply to the Family Rate (for 5th member +) or to the 10-Visit Pack.
* Check out the Centre Region Parks & Recreation 2008 Summer Leisure Guide for exciting ways to fill your long summer days. There is information on day camps, tennis, youth track and field, and aquatics, not to mention, Millbrook Marsh Nature Center programs and a variety of community special events. Leisure Guides will be available April 6th on-line at www.crpr.org & in the Sunday Edition of the Centre Daily Times, and on April 7 at locations throughout the Centre Region, including the CRPR office, 2643 Gateway Dr. #1. Knee-High Naturalist Program - “Welcome Spring!” & “Marsh Exploration”- 10:30 AM & 12:30 PM This one-hour long program held at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center is for children ages 3-6 and features indoor and outdoor activities, so dress appropriately. Programs are held Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 10:30 AM & 12:30 PM. Advanced registration is required. Fee: $5R/ $7.50N. To register, call CRPR at 231-3071
Centre Region Senior Social Club. This active group of adults, ages 55 +, meet for activities, trips and programs. 10 AM – 1:30 PM
Senior Hiking Group Enjoy a moderate hike in the great outdoors. Various locations in and around State College. Tuesdays, 9AM. FREE! Contact the Senior Center for more details: 231-3076.
Progressive Resistance Weight Training. A class for seniors 55+ years, at the Senior Center. Exercise using hand-held weights, leg weights, & therapeutic exercise bands. Program is designed to increase muscle strength, bone density, & flexibility. Tuesdays & Thursdays; 11 AM- 12PM. Fee: $8R / $12N; Call 231-3076 for more info.
Silver Spurs Line Dancing No experience or partners needed! Dance at 7 PM at Mt. Nittany Residence....FREE!

Beginning Tai Chi for Seniors (From the Arthritis Foundation) Begins This popular exercise program is effective in promoting physical & mental well being. Tai Chi increases flexibility, muscular strength & fitness & may also reduce joint pain and stiffness due to arthritis. Tuesdays, Apr. 3-May 8; 10:30 - 11:30 AM at the Senior Center. Healthy Steps in Motion Exercise Program This low impact exercise will work on improving balance, flexibility, strength and reduce the risk of falling and can be done in a chair or standing. CRPR Co-ed Field Hockey This incredible program, in conjunction with the Penn State Lady Lion Field Hockey Team, is for youth in grades 3-6. Class meets at the Lady Lion Hockey field, or Holuba Hall if raining. Mondays & Wednesdays, April 7 - May 7; 5:45-6:45 PM. Fee: $30 Resident/$45 Non-resident.
Gentle Yoga for Beginners 55 & Older- spring session. Mondays, 2:30 - 4 PM at the Senior Center. Learn a progressive series of exercises that improve posture, ease arthritic pain, increase flexibility and promote a sense of well being. New students welcome. Fee: $30 Resident / $45 Non-resident. “Start Smart” Soccer for ages 3-5 yrs. Begins. – “Start Smart” Soccer is a developmentally appropriate introductory soccer program for children 3-5 years old. The program prepares children and their parents for organized soccer without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate soccer equipment is used to teach kicking, dribbling, trapping, throw-ins, & agility. Parent participation is required!
